Large flange ring parts are increasingly used in wind power, machinery, shipbuilding, petrochemical, aerospace and many other industrial fields. Today, the production of large flange ring parts mainly includes the following methods:

1. Overall forging method. The blank at high temperature is forged into a pie shape, the middle part is punched, and then forged into a ring shape. This method not only has low material utilization rate and long processing cycle, but also the processed ring blanks often cannot meet the precision requirements. With the progress and development of technology, this method has gradually become a reality for the processing of large rings.

2. Ring rolling method. Ring rolling, also known as ring rolling or reaming, is the process of feeding a forged ring blank into a ring rolling mill at high temperature. After multiple rollings, the wall thickness of the ring decreases and the diameter increases. Partial machining of continuous profiles and profile forming in the profile forming process. This method requires a whole set of large-scale forging and rolling equipment, and the rolling process is affected by the coupling effect of statics, kinematics, dynamics and other factors. The rolling deformation of the ring is highly complex, but also has the disadvantages of difficult equipment operation, large footprint and high energy consumption.

Rolling has become the main production method of large rings, and foreign scholars have carried out a lot of research on this production process from many aspects. Domestic research on rolling and forming is more and more in-depth, and certain achievements have been achieved. The first 5000mm diameter axial CNC ring rolling mill in China developed by Xi'an Heavy Machinery Research Institute has the characteristics of rolling large aluminum alloy rings, high precision, high efficiency, large diameter and large torque.

3. The method of precise bending and forming. The main flow of the method is precise bending, end removal, welding bevels and custom welding to form circular flanges. Due to the large size of the super flange ring, difficulties will be encountered in the overall processing and transportation. Therefore, it must be dealt with in sections.

Compared with the process of producing ring parts such as rolling, the flange processing by the bending forming process has the advantages of high production efficiency, small processing volume, simple equipment and low energy consumption. It is of great significance to apply the bending process to the production of large flange ring parts.
